Coordinate FestivaL

COORDINATE Festival is a new cultural festival that takes place in Calcata, a medieval village in Italy, transforming it into a living laboratory of art, territory, and community.

The Festival is led by a shared artistic direction made up of Raffaella Appià, Patrizio Bucci, and Tommaso Petrolo. Each brings a different but complementary background, spanning choreography, performance, and visual storytelling. Together, they guide the festival with a collaborative approach that avoids a single, fixed vision. Instead, they create an open and flexible space where different ideas can meet, and where diversity drives the creative process.

The festival focuses on site-specific performances, contemporary dance, and multidisciplinary art interventions that actively engage with the natural and urban landscape. It's not just about watching art—it's about inhabiting spaces differently, through immersive installations, participatory workshops, outdoor activities, and exhibitions.

Restanza is the theme of the first edition of the Festival. It is a poetic and political concept centered on the act of staying—choosing to remain in a place with commitment and imagination, instead of leaving. It becomes a way to create new visions, stronger bonds, and shared responsibility for the future.

COORDINATE Festival invites artists and local residents to co-create a collective experience where the village is not treated as a static heritage site, but as a dynamic, re-inhabitable space full of potential.
